Recently in the Herald:
Ever wonder how our church got its name, "Zion"? I have. Unfortunately, I have yet to run across anything in our historical records that clearly states how our founding mothers and fathers decided on our church name (if you have, do tell!). Interestingly enough, even my Illustrated Dictionary and Concordance of the Bible says that "The etymology of this name [Zion] remains unexplained and may be of great antiquity."
There are, however, numerous references to "Zion" in the scriptures...

Mission Statement
The mission statement of Zion United Church of Christ and its members is four-fold.
- To worship, love and serve God as a community of faith, and to share that faith in our daily lives.
- To nurture the spiritual growth of its members in the heritage and application of the Christian faith.
- To be a community of faith lending mutual love and support as it shares in its times of joy, struggle, and sorrow.
- To be sensitive of and minister to our local and world-wide community needs
